The Department of History was started in 1970. It is a matter of pride for us
that the first Head of the Department
Dr. B. M. Patodekar became the Registar of
Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Aurangabad.
1. History study circle: To develop
the students interest in History, the study circle in History has been working
in the
college for many years. The circle also holds “Seminars”
on different subjects from time to time.
2. Visit of eminent people: The college
is most thankful to the scholarly personalities like Dr. Pandharinath Rande, Dr.
Morwanchikarr, Barrister B.N. Deshmukh and Dr. S.S.Rode for their visit to the college.
3. Collection of old coins: Latur was once a part of the region of Rashtrakuta.
Even now coins of these times are found in
Latur. Whatever coins we could collect, have been preserved as “Collection of olden coins” by the college.
4. Education Tour of History students:
To increase the interest of the students in this subject, a tour is arranged every
year. The Department has visited a number of historical places in Maharashtra and
other states comprising Ter, Verul,
Ajantha, Paithan, Nashik, Pune, Raigarh, Mahad,
Kolhapur, Pratapgarh, Mysore, Shrishailam, Charminar, Ooty,
