In 1985 for the first time Sanskrit Language was introduced in Rajarshi Shahu Mahavidyalaya. No college of this region had this subject. In 1985, in the senior college it was introduced as a second language. In the beginning there were only 10 students. Today the strength is 450 students, including second language and optional.

Special Efforts for Sanskrit Grammar : many of the students are introduced to Sanskrit in the first year of graduation. They are taught basic grammar and primary sentence construction through extra classes.

Sanskrit Shlok Recitation : For various competitions, memorising is important, therefore, the shlokas are recited in various rhythms. These are the shlokas apart from the syllabus. These efforts have brought success in various competitions.

Spoken Sanskrit Classes : Spoken Sanskrit classes are conducted so that students can converse in Sanskrit. In these classes they are encouraged to construct sentences in Sanskrit.

Sanskrit Day Celebration : Every year our college celebrates Sanskrit Day. Subject experts are invited for guidance and speeches. Various competitions are held like “Shloka-Recitation”, “Speeches in Sanskrit” “Dance and Drama in Sanskrit” etc. The dignitaries who visited these programmes include Acharya Shirole, Dr. Devisinghji Chauhan, Dr. Varnekar, Dr. Jha, Dr. Harishchandra Renapurkar, Pandit Gulam Dastgir.

Sanskrit Year Celebrations : Central Government had decleared 1999-2000 as Sanskrit year.The college organised various competitions like, drama, dance, conversation and recitation of Shloaks. Pandit Gular Dastagir and Dr. Gopalrao Patil appreciated the students and their talents.

Simple Sanskrit Spoken Classes : UGC (New Delhi) has sanctioned Rs. 1,00,000/- for simple Sanskrit spoken class for the period 2002-2003.
