DEPARTMENT OF MASS COMMUNICATION AND JOURNALISM

The college always has been following the Pursuit of Excellence; and taken a step forward by establishing the Department of M A (Mass Communication & Journalism) since 2017. The Department offers M A (MCJ) course. The course aims to providing an extensive range of Media skill & advance knowledge in varied streams of media education. According to the traditional concept of Mass Communications a system that is made of many components, each playing an important part in message transmission or communication. The primary vision or objective of the discipline is to teach candidates as to how he or she can effectively and sufficiently communicate his/her ideas and opinion to a large number of people. A professional course in M.A.M.C.J. opens doors for a career in Print, Radio, Films & TV Media with publishing, Public Relations, Journalism, Editing, Film Direction, Filmmaking, scriptwriting, production, etc. In nutshell, Mass Communication widens up the horizon of career options for an educatee. The course of Mass Communication & Journalism is giving best opportunity for better future for society & also Nation.

After completing this specific programme

1) Student developed a practical understanding of the underlying Principals of Mass Communication and Journalism industry.

2) Students will learn to write edit and design newspaper ,shoot and anchor news bulletins and television programs ,make a radio ,print advertisement, produce documentaries create You tube videos etc.

3) Students will learn to work on the various softwares used in the Journalism such as Page Maker, Photoshop etc.

SWOC (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Challenges)

1. Mass Communication and Journalism education assumes new significance in the age of globalization and communication. 2. Agricultural universities are imparting training on farm communication, extension education and development communication. 3. Many Universities and private institutions annually train number of students in various aspects of Mass Communication and Journalism including reporting, editing, photography, videography,printing, designing, advertising, public relations, research, web - journalism etc. 4. Most of the universities and colleges have provided infrastructural facilities and manpower in audio visual communication to fulfill the market demand generated by explosion of infotainment sector in 24 x 7 news channels, FM radios, Community Radio Stations, Advertising agencies and many more. 5. Mass communication and journalism being the multi-faceted discipline and multi-pronged profession. 6. All round progress in the mass media system in the country in the post-independence era.	1. To plan more events the required staff is not enough. 2. Current open day’s events not increasing voluntary activity 3. Lack of resources in field 4. Budget. 5. Price of service 6. Students are not aware about Opportunity in media field, they lack capabilities requires such educational stream.
Opportunities	Challenges
1. Every year 10% new News Channels are started in Hindi and Reginal Language. They required reporters, Stringers, sub-editor, camera-man, copy editor and etc. 2. The FM radio industry has registered remarkable growth within the media and entertainment sector they required R.J’s. 3. India’s television industry expanded by 15.5% in 2010 and is expected to record a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 16% to touch Rs.630 billion by 2015, according to a new report from FICCI-KPMG. 4. Major Growth in Advertising sector, Social Media, students gets betters opportunities in the field. 5. In India, the dailies in regional languages command more than half of the Average Issue Readership in 2009 as per (IRS )there are 90 million readers of dailies in the regional languages, as compared to 54 million for dailies in Hindi and 8 million for dailies in English. If we turn to growth in net paid sales, dailies in regional languages have increased by almost 4 million copies in Jan-June 2009 over Jan-June 2006 as per the Audit Bureau of Circulation 6. Multiple career options Studying Communication can help students succeed professionally.Creating strong oral and written messages, working well with others, managing their image,researching, analyzing and solving problems are key abilities employers look for. As soon as you are sure about your key interest area in Mass media, you can apply for internships in newspapers, magazines, FM channels, Production houses, PR firms and can kick-start your career from there.	1. The challenges identified are the inadequacy of modern journalism facilities, absence of good journalism institutes, few hands-on opportunities for teaching and learning, poor funding, and negative students" attitude toward research. Mass Communication is the study of all types of mass media including newspaper, magazine, radio, films, television, and others. Those who graduate in this major study can work in many fields such as news and media publishing, public relations, and research institutes. This field of work is a fast growing industry that is looking for enterprising professionals
