1. Preliminary
The Persons with Disabilities Act 1995 indicates that differently-abled persons should have access to education at all levels. Right of Persons with Disabilities Act 2016 prohibits discrimination against individuals with physical and mental disabilities. In view, the College has created Disability Support Facilities (DSF) to provide access to the differently abled students for varied programs, services, activities, etc. The College strives to create accessory and homely ambience and facilities for these students. It takes care to nurture them right from their beginning to exit from the College.

Rajarshi Shahu Mahavidyalaya (Autonomous), Latur recognizes the importance of creating a climate of understanding and mutual respect to cater for the dignity and worth of each person, so that they contribute whole heartedly to the development of Self, Institute, Society and Country at large. The College considers it, an honour to serve the differently abled members of the community. The specific policy has been formulated to keep the campus disabled friendly, and to take every possible measure to provide a barrier free environment and holistic development of Divyangjan.

2. Scope
All the stakeholders of Rajarshi Shahu Mahavidyalaya (Autonomous), Latur including the Management, Principal, Teaching and Non-Teaching Staff, Students and those who use the campus shall adhere to the Policy.

3. Objectives
3.1 To create barrier free environment for Divyangjan and to make special provisions for the integration of Divyangjan into the social mainstream.
3.2 To ensure provisions for installation of facilities for the benefit of persons with visual handicaps, kerbs and slopes to be made in pavements for the easy access of wheel chair users, devising appropriate symbols of disability and warning signals at appropriate places.
3.3 To provide ramps in Academic buildings, adaptation of toilets for wheel chair users, Braille symbols and proper signage and elevators.
3.4 To promote equal right and access to education for underprivileged with physical disability. viz:
a. Access to academic, co and extra- curricular activities.
b. Access to buildings and facilities.
c. Receiving information in accessible formats
d. Receiving a high quality service from faculty members and staff.
e. Opportunities to make complaints and provide feedback.
f. Opportunities for employment at the College.
3.5. To facilitate the personal and professional growth of Divyangjan.
3.6. To encourage Divyangjan to participate in co-curricular and extra-curricular activities.
3.7. To extend add on programs and skilling opportunities to Divyangjan

4. Disabled Friendly and Barrier Free Environment Committee
4.1 Composition

4.2 Norms for functioning
41. The committee shall meet as and when needed but at least twice in an academic year.
4.2. The resolutions passed shall be forwarded to the Governing Body for necessary action.
4.3. Roles and Responsibilities
4.3.1. To ensure the design of the building such as ramp/ lift according to the needs Divyangjan.
4.3.2. To ensure the accessible, gender-sensitive, safe, usable and functional washroom facilities to Divyangjan.
4.3.3. To ensure the proper text and pictogram signage such as tactile path, lights, display boards; signposts, located to be visible and touchable.
4.3.4. To provide signage symbols for male and female, in accordance with local customs and standards, with raised outlines and bright colour contrast.
4.3.5. To support Learners with disabilities in and out of the classroom with the right resources and assistive technology including software.
4.3.6. To facilitate enquiry and information: Human assistance, reader, scribe, soft copies of reading material, screen reading.

5. Specific Measures to be implemented for Barrier Free Environment to Divyangjan
5.1. All the stakeholders of the college should consider the opportunity to serve the Divyangjan as a privilege.
5.2. The class to which Divyangjan are admitted should be shifted to a room with the easiest and shortest access.
5.3. The College shall offer academic and administrative services as per the convenience of Divyangjan.
5.4. The College shall make reservations for Divyangjan in classrooms, seminar hall, library, reading room, canteen, parking, etc.
5.5. The College shall purchase braille and audio books.
5.6. The College shall provide a Helpdesk during admissions for Divyangjan.
5.7. A separate landing page mentioning all facilities for Divyangjan should be made available on the college website.
5.8. The College will make reasonable changes in the educational plan and assessment framework to meet the particular needs of Divyangjan students.
5.9. The College shall issue guidelines and regulations to the examination department for use scribe in exams.
5.10. The College shall offer a special skill enhancement course in Music for Divyangjan.

7. Review and Implementation of the Policy
 Disabled Friendly, Barrier Free Environment committee will review the policy time to time.
 Disabled Friendly, Barrier Free Environment policy will be displayed on the college website and communicated to all stakeholders.
 Disabled Friendly, Barrier Free Environment Committee will look after the implementation of policy in letter and spirit.
