Department of Marathi

The Department of MThe Department of Marathi has been working since the inception of Rajarshi Shahu Mahavidyalaya, Latur i.e 1970. The department is recognized as a research center of Swami RamanandTeerthMarathwada University, Nanded, Since1999. The eminent scholars, litterateur and social workers like Prof. SubhashMendhapurkar, Prof. Sunetra Deshpande, Prof. Manohar Niture, Dr. MadhavGadhekar, Dr. ShriramGundhekar and Dr. Bharat Deshmukh were the heads of the department and contributed a lot by their works to the academics. Dr. ShriramGundhekar has done the great research work in Maharashtra on Satyashodhaki Literature. He published four volumes on literature, critical analysis and history of Satyashodhaki Literature.

Through the Marathi research center, twelve researchers have been awarded Ph.D and presently three students are doing their doctoral research at this center. During the last five years, the faculty members published two books and thirty-two research articles.

The department is running under the headship of Dr. SambhajiPatil. The Students’ Association of Marathi Language and Literature conducts various activities for the all-round development of the students. On the occasion of the birth anniversary of poet Kusumagraj, the department organizes different competitions and celebrates Marathi Bhasha Gaurav Din every year on 27th Feb. As a part of the best activity of the department, VachanSanskrutiChalval (an Academic Activity for developing Reading Culture) is practised to inculcate the reading skill among the students and the staff members. The Marathi department has a rare collection of 1250 books of Satyashodhaki Literature.

• Workshop for New Writers was organized on 28 Nov. to 01 Dec. 1992 in Collaboration with the Marathwada University, Aurangabad.
• UGC and S.R.T.M.U. Nanded sponsored state level conference on Satya Shodhaky Literature on 17 & 18 Feb. 2001
• A Workshop was organized on 26 to 28 Jan. 2002 in collaboration with Maharashtra SahityaSanskriti Mandal for New Writers and the Writing of Novels
• UGC sponsored National level seminar on Marathi Research Methodology was organized on 19 to 20 Dec. 2008
• A Workshop was organized on 04.03.2013 for Writing and Presentation of Stories and Poems.
