Department of Chemistry and Analytical Chemistry

The Department of Chemistry was established in the academic year 1971-72. Need of analyst is at the forefront of the noteworthy growth in industries, the college took initiative in starting the course Analytical Chemistry in the year 1985-86 at Undergraduate (B.Sc.) level. Now, this course is successfully flourishing the need of industries by availing analysts with sound subject knowledge. Also, Post graduate course in Organic Chemistry started in the college from 2014-2015. Department has well equipped laboratories with number of sophisticated instruments.In 2006-07, UGC recognized this department as a “Star Department” in the college and awarded CPE status. The Department organized National Conferences on themes.

  • Recent Advances in Chemical Kinetics, Coordination and Nanochemistry (RACKCNC09, 11th March, 2009)
  • “Emerging Trends and Challenges in Synthetic and Nanochemistry” (e-Synanochem-16 and 11th March 2016).
  • Emerging Material : Chemistry and Challenges (EMCC, 11th and 12th March,2022).

    • Recently, the department has organized a workshop on “Cheminformatics and Drug Design” in collaboration with IIT, Madras (19, 20 July 2019)

    The Department has S.R.T.M. University, Nanded, recognised research laboratory. Now the Research Activities tackling recent areas of research are insistently in progress at our renowned institute. Faculty are looking after all of the research activities of the department.

    Programme Specific Outcomes

    B.Sc. Chemistry and Analytical Chemistry Programme Specific Outcomes

    On completion of the Program student will be able to

    1)Integrate their knowledge of chemical theories with critical thinking skills in order to become problem solvers.

    2) Follow and understood general laboratory practice guidelines, including safety.

    3) Handle instruments for basic and modern chemical analysis.

    4) Secure profitable employment in industry or in government sector.

    5) Study Chemistry and Analytical Chemistry in academic and industrial courses.

    6) Processes the chemical experiments used in industries.

    7) Interpret and analyze chemical analysis and related data.

    M.Sc. Chemistry Programme Specific Outcomes

    1) Develop abilities to apply the knowledge of contents of principles of Chemistry.

    2) Develop skills required in Chemistry such as the proper handling of apparatus, chemicals and sophisticated instruments, ability to analyze the data and its interpretation.

    3) Learn to do their research ethically, with areas at the forefront of Chemical Sciences, with interdisciplinary approach.

    4) Qualify examinations such as NET, SET, GATE, JRF, etc Develop proper attitude towards the subject and ability to explore the subject up to thorough depth retaining their interest.

    5) Secure jobs in industries, teaching profession and the government organizations.

    6) Do their research ethically, with areas at the forefront of Chemical Sciences, with interdisciplinary approach.
